June Running Night 2018

Hey hey, last night's S Scale Running Night was a little light on numbers in attendance due to a small error in communication. For those who are still interested in attending these running nights, the Branchline newsletter (which I received my copy on Friday) outlines that the 4th Friday of each month is allocated to the S scale SIG for these nights. So regardless if you get your email, please do still attend or you miss out on a lot of fun and good conversation. With that said, we still had a good operating session with at least 4 different trains recorded on the night. Below are some photos for those that missed out.

June Meeting 2018

Hey hey, firstly I'd like to apologise for the average photos as most know I am not well at the moment so I haven't exactly been on the ball. This meeting was big for a post exhibition meeting with a roundup of "internal combustion" locomotives being the theme of the evening. As with every other meeting, we had news and a "bring and show" followed by the main part of the meeting before breaking for tea. Below are photos from the bring and show:

Kelvin's Son; Owen continues to impress us all with more of his 3D modeling work with these bogie R wagons. 

Owen also displayed a 3D printed cow.

John Hatch has proved to all of us that he has not been idle in his absence from the meetings by displaying his craftsmanship on his Australind cars.

Peter Edwards displayed some 3D printed AI carriages and ZP brake vans that he has been working on.

Stuart Mackay also displayed some modeling having modified this truck into a flatbed.

Finally Graham Watson demonstrated a new jig he has made for bending wire for use as brake piping under his BE cattle wagons.

Next was the theme of the meeting which was a roundup of internal combustion locomotives which was well represented. Below are photos of each of the classes represented on the night.

AMRA WA Annual Exhibition 2018 - Day 3

Hey hey, an early start for everyone today as the annual awards for the exhibition were announced this morning before the door opened to the public. Bencubbin made a clean sweep of all the awards taking out the "The Richard Smart Memorial Cup",  "Jack Stanbridge Trophy for Best Model Railway as Judged by other Exhibitors" and the "Bill Gardner Cup for Best Model Railway". As promised, the day was run using modern era rollingstock. After some teething issues, trains settled into some perfect running for the day. All in all, a good exhibition which was enjoyed by all. Congratulations goes to Greg Aitken for all his hard work and effort to bring his home layout to an exhibition. As the awards it won clearly show, it was a job well done.
